What is the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation?
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation is an international organisation that was founded in 2001 by China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. At the time of its establishment, there were a total of 6 member countries in this organisation. In 2017, India and Pakistan became members of this organisation, taking the total number of member countries to eight. Currently, the organisation has 8 full members, 4 observer countries and many dialogue partners who attend meetings from time to time.
