Israel-Palestine Conflict 2025: History, Current Crisis, and the Global Stand on Gaza War
Israel Iran conflict
Palestine is a region which is not internationally recognized as a recognized country by the United Nations. The issue of Palestine has always been one of the most sensitive and complex conflicts. The conflict of Palestine is from the formation of Israel. The conflict between the two over territory, identity, religious places and freedom is always at the peak, but in 2025 this conflict has become the center of discussion globally.
Hamas, a terrorist organization declared by Israel, which was taking refuge in the Gaza Strip, attacked innocent Israeli civilians and soldiers some time ago and took them hostage. In response to this, continuous action was taken by Israeli men which is still going on. More than 3 lakh people have lost their lives in this conflict. Still, no solution has been found to this Palestine issue yet. Today in this article we will know what is the main dispute between Palestine and Israel at the international level, what is the future of both the regions in the coming times, know in detail.
Historical background
The history of Palestine region has been religious and historical for Jews, Christians and Muslims since ancient times. People of all three religions consider this region, especially Jerusalem, sacred. This region was ruled by Britain in the 19th century. In 1917, Britain's plan was to build a national home for Jews in this region through the Balfour Declaration. Gradually, the number of Jews in this region started increasing and Jews started coming and living here and started farming. Gradually, the increasing number of Jews and the Arabs living in Palestine region started having conflicts with each other because the Arabs said that the Jews were snatching their land.
In 1947, the United Nations proposed to divide Palestine into two independent countries, Arab and Jewish, and to make Jerusalem an international territory. The Jews accepted this proposal and in 1948, a new country named Israel was formed. As soon as the new country of Israel was formed, the first Arab-Israeli war took place and about 7 lakh Arabs became refugees in their own country.
Main conflict points: After the formation of the new Jewish country Israel, the conflict between Palestine and Israel started gaining more momentum. After this, in 1967, there was a war between Israel and Arab countries and in this 6-day war, Israel captured some parts of West Bank, Gaza, Golan Heights and Jerusalem. After the war in 1967, Palestine wants its pre-1967 border, while Israel claims its bed to be right in the name of security. The main disputes between Israel and Palestine since 1967 are as follows:
1. Jerusalem: Jerusalem is an area which both consider their capital. Israel is shifting its capital from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. While Palestine also considers it as its capital.
2. Refugee problem: Even after Israel became a country, Palestinian people are living there. And millions of Palestinian residents are still living as refugees in their own country. And they are demanding the return of their homes and that they should be given their rights.
3. Jewish settlements: Israel is establishing Jewish settlements in the Arab region West Bank. More and more Jewish people are being provided facilities there. Palestine considers the Israeli settlements here illegal.
4. Security: Israel wants its security to be ensured against terrorism while the residents of Palestine do not consider Israel as a country, they want to destroy Israel completely. They say that there should be no country named Israel in this region.
Gaza Strip and Hamas
Gaza Strip is a small part of Palestine region. This part of Palestine region is ruled by the Islamic organization Hamas since 2007. Israel considers this Islamic organization Hamas a terrorist organization. This organization has attacked Israel many times. Recently in the year 2025, people belonging to Hamas organization carried out a terrorist attack on Israeli soldiers and civilians and many people were taken hostage at gunpoint. After this, in retaliation, Israeli forces attacked Gaza to wipe out Hamas. Due to Israel's attack on Gaza Strip, there has been a huge reduction in basic facilities like electricity, water, education and health in the entire region.
United Nations and global perspective
United Nations always talks about two state solution. Israel has already accepted it but Palestine does not accept it. America has historically supported Israel since its formation. But it has adopted a humanitarian approach towards the people of Palestine in recent years. Both China and Russia sympathize with Palestine and hold Israel responsible for military action in the Palestine region. They say that Palestine should also be recognized as a country. India has its own view. India has been a supporter of Palestine since the beginning but its relations with Israel are very strong today. Close defense and technical relations between Israel and India have strengthened.
Two-State Solution
The solution suggested by the United Nations to the whole world in 1947 is a proposal for both Israel and Palestine to exist as independent countries, but the status of Jerusalem, the Jewish settlements settled by Israel in the West Bank and its presence in the Gaza Strip ruled by Hamas are the biggest obstacles to this solution. There is very little chance of solving the problem of this region in 2025, but international pressure on the region is increasing to solve this problem.
Current situation
The biggest conflict between Israel and Palestine is currently going on in the Gaza Strip. Just a while ago, Hamas had carried out a terrorist attack on Israeli soldiers and civilians. After that, the Israeli army attacked the Gaza Strip in retaliation and this conflict is not over yet. Because even now some Israeli soldiers and civilians are in the custody of the terrorist organization Hamas. More than 3 lakh people have been killed in the Gaza Strip so far in Israel's retaliatory action. The problems of education, health and food are at their peak there.
Conclusion
The Palestine issue remains one of the most unresolved and emotionally charged conflicts in modern global geopolitics. Despite decades of negotiations, wars, and peace proposals, a lasting solution still seems out of reach. The root of the problem lies in historical injustice, disputed territories, clashing national identities, and religious sensitivities.
The ongoing war in Gaza, the rise of extremist elements, and the humanitarian crisis have only worsened the situation in 2025. While the international community continues to push for a two-state solution, deep mistrust and unresolved core issues—such as the status of Jerusalem, refugee rights, and illegal settlements—stand in the way.
There is an urgent need for balanced diplomacy, global cooperation, and humanitarian efforts to prevent further loss of life and to pave the way for peaceful coexistence between Israel and Palestine. Only through dialogue, mutual recognition, and respect for human rights can peace be envisioned in this long-troubled region.
